The Charger[2] is an alien enemy cut from Half-Life. While not in the game files, its source files can be found in the Half-Life SDK files.

[edit] Overview

  • The Charger was to be a two-legged insect-like creature, with a small head dotted with two moving flaps (possibly ears, since holes can be seen in the inner sides) that could cover its head completely. It was to have seven eyes, three big and four small, randomly spread around its face (or only three, depending on the two textures files), six pointed teeth, and overall colors similar to that of the Bullsquid.
  • While its model is more insect-like, its original concept was more like "a demonic a bipedal monster",[1] without wings and a ruminant-like tail.

[edit] Behavior and skills

Its animations show the creature constantly flying, its wings moving very fast, and apparently not using its legs much. It appears that once it notices the player, it was to charge towards them, wrap its head in its flaps (probably to increase velocity), then hit them with its legs at the end of the charge. Other animations show it "firing" with its mouth, likely some toxic spit in the same vein of the Bullsquid or the Antlion Worker.
