City 49 is a city mentioned by Samuel in the story fragment Now Arriving: City 17 Vignette featured in Raising the Bar. Samuel explains he spent the last trimester there. He also states that City 17, City 40 and most of the towns are all identical from far and that only inside it is possible to see how they were "before" (thus before the Seven Hour War and the Combine colonization).[1]
