The Combine Ration Dispenser is a device that distributes food packages to Citizens. It is seen in the City 17 Trainstation main hall in Half-Life 2’s first chapter, "Point Insertion", and in the chapter "Water Hazard", where they dispense Manhacks.
The food distributed from the dispenser apparently has a very unlikable taste as several Citizens can be heard commenting on the poor quality of the rations, even to the extent of considering joining Civil Protection "just to get a decent meal".

- The dispenser appears in the multiplayer map "dm_lockdown", where it has the same function as the Combine Dark Energy Charger.
- Typing the command "give weapon_citizenpackage" into the developers console gives the player a handheld food ration package, though it appears as a gray box up close. Attempting to use it has no effect, and once the player has switched to another weapon, the packet cannot be recovered without the console.
- If you look closely the food packet will dissapear when citizens pick it up, most likely turning it into a weapon, it is
probably the reason that "weapon_citizenpackage" exists.
- In the second map of Water Hazard where the first dam must be opened, a Civil Protection officer sets four ration dispensers to deploy a number of Manhacks from the dispenser's tops.
- The packets themselves resemble freeze-dried astronaut food.
