The Demoman is one of the 9 classes that players may choose from in Team Fortress 2. He belongs to the Defense Group of Classes.

A fierce temper, a fascination with all things explosive, and a terrible plan to kill the Loch Ness Monster cost the six year old Demoman both natural parents. Later, at the Crypt Grammar School for Orphans near Ullapool in the Scottish Highlands, the boy's bomb-making skills improved dramatically. His disposition and total number of intact eyeballs, however, did not.
A defensive class with average speed and damage tolerance, the Demoman is a thick set black Scottish man with a skull cap, an eye patch and a team-coloured EOD suit. The demoman can use the grenade launcher and sticky bomb launcher to fire grenades over obstacles and around corners, though its range is extremely limited (hold down the fire button to shoot them far). Sticky bombs can also be used in a defensive role for setting traps and mining routes. The demoman can only have a maximum of eight active sticky bombs at any one time and placing more sticky bombs with eight already in place will begin detonating previously-deployed bombs in the order they were launched. Similarly to Soldiers, Demomen can use their explosives to pipe jump. This tactic can send the Demoman to great heights but will cause them to take a lot of damage.

The Demoman was one of the six classes previewed by Valve's "Meet the Classes" ad campaign. In his short film the Demoman rants drunkenly at length about his unique qualities, before slaughtering a good number of opponents with several cleverly placed sticky bombs. [1]
[edit] Tactics
- Both Grenades and Sticky Bombs are excellent Sentry removal tools, if you can find a way to stay out of range of them.
- Put Sticky Bombs in places out of players' normal eyeline; just around corners, in battle hotspots, places where enemies' are liable to rush in without due care. Placing them on your own control points is a good stalling tactic, however, expect any mines which are immediately visible to be blown out of the way.
- Grenades can be bounced around corners and lobbed through openings. Use this to shell positions you are leery of running into yourself, and to punish opponents hiding in cramped areas.
- Grenades explode if you hit an opponent with them before they hit the ground, inflicting very heavy damage. Learn to predict opponent's movements in order to achieve this, however do not use the Grenade Launcher in close combat unless you have a lot of health.
- You can blow up sticks in flight, so it does not need to hit.
