Okay, I know that this probably had been discussed a few times, but there are a few things that trouble me about the actual meaning behind the abbreviation "CMB", mostly present in Combine_imagery - The reason(s) why:
- I don't think the combine speak english in their homeworld, so why should they design an Identifiable Image of their own which uses latin letters and english words?
- The letters do look like they are meant to represent a different language.
- The word is conspiciously short - but asian letters, for example, are also 'short', meaning that "CMB" might not be "CMB" at all.
- admittedly, it's difficult to say what these letters may mean, especially since the combine don't appear to write books or anything thereof...
My assumption why the Combine are refered to as "Combines":
- the letters "CMB" were probably though of as an abbreviation (as stated before) - and what more would fit here than "combine"?
- it might be possible that the Combines have chosen to select a popular language spoken by humankind for their imaginary, so their enslaved soldiers are able to use their technology - namely english.

- I think that it seems obvious that it must stand for Combine so that soldiers know what it means. It's also possible that they look like English letters because they're supposed to be symbolic as well as being able to be read by humans.--CakeMaster7 19:54, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
