The Heckler & Koch MP5K, also known as SMG1, is a weapon cut from Half-Life 2. It can be found in the playable Half-Life 2 Beta files.
The MP5K is a compact version of German-designed SMG, the H&K MP5, with a shorter barrel making it even more maneuverable and more easily concealed.

[edit] Overview
- The MP5K was apparently set to be Half-Life 2's primary SMG. At some point during the game's development, the MP5K and its replacement, the H&K MP7, existed side-by-side, but in the end it was cut in favor of the more modern MP7.
- By the time the Beta was leaked, the view model for the MP5K was deleted and replaced with the final SMG's. However, the SMG1 still has the MP5K's stats, as it has a 30-round magazine used by the real-life MP5K, not the 45-round one used in the final SMG1.
- Based on how the SMG1 behaves in the Beta, it seems that the MP5K would be more accurate out of the two other SMGs. In addition, it would have a lower rate of fire than the SMG2.
[edit] Behind the scenes
The MP5K appears to have been scrapped before the E3 2003 presentation: during the "Lab" presentation, Alyx gives the player the MP5K, but the final SMG appears in his hands.
[edit] Trivia
In the Half-Life 2 files, several texture files for HUD weapon icons can be found, most of which still containing the icons for almost all of the cut weapons. The MP5K is among them.
