The .357 Magnum Revolver is a powerful handgun. It is more accurate and powerful than the Pistol. In Half Life, the player finds his first .357 Magnum Revolver near a dead security guard in the Blast Pit chapter, beneath the tentacles. In Blue Shift, he finds the weapon next to a security guard pulled out of his car and killed in chapter Captive Freight. In Half Life 2, the first .357 Magnum the player acquires is on a desk in a Civil Protection outpost on the Canals in the chapter Water Hazard. The weapon resembles a Colt Python in both games.

The .357 only has a single firing mode, firing a powerful .357 Magnum round. This is a powerful and accurate weapon, but it has a long reload time and low rate of fire, so be sure to aim carefully and make every shot count, as it only holds six rounds at a time. There is also a trick that can be used with this weapon. While it has no built in scope, but you can use the HEV suit zoom to aim long distance shots, then quickly releasing the zoom to fire.

In some of the Half-Life: Source versions the secondry fire on this weapon will activate a little scope, however this is not in all versions.

Keep in mind that finding ammunition for this weapon is very rare, so only use this weapon when accurate shooting is necessary, or when you need to inflict heavy damage.
