In the Half-Life series, the Medkit (or Health Kit) is a healing item. Medkits are usually placed in high-risk areas where immediate medical attention might be needed.

[edit] Appearances
[edit] Half-Life
In Half-Life, the amount of health Medkits recover depends on the skill level. In Easy and Medium, Medkits will recover 15 health, while in Hard, Medkits will heal 10 health. The small amount of health Medkits recovers means that the player will usually be using Chargers to recover a lot of lost health, especially in Hard mode.
Of note is that the Medkit in the Beta looks exactly like the one in Half-Life, only without a strap.
[edit] Deathmatch Classic
In Deathmatch Classic, Medkits come in two forms; small and large. Small Medkits are a first-aid spray and bandage that heals 15 health, while large Medkits are a dirtier version of the HL1 Medkit and heal 25 HP.
[edit] Half-Life 2
In Half-Life 2, Medkits will always heal 25 health, regardless of the difficulty setting. This makes them the main source of healing throughout the game, as they're much more common than Health Chargers. Similar to it's counterpart in Half-Life the Medkit has a predominately white coloring and labeled with a red cross. Unlike in Half-Life, these Medkits are produced by the Combine.
The Health Vial is a smaller alternative to the Medkit that heals less damage. Both the Medkit and Health Vial contain a green gel or liquid.
