Sandy[1][2] is a Resistance member seen briefly during the chapter Sandtraps during Half-Life 2.
While Sandy was traveling from Lighthouse Point to the Vortigaunt Camp with his friend Laszlo, Laszlo was attacked and severely wounded by Antlions. Gordon Freeman arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, only to see Antlions attack Laszlo a second time, killing him, before going on to attack Sandy and Freeman. Together they fought the Antlions off. With the immediate danger passed, Sandy suggested Freeman go on alone, saying "there's something I have to do". However, if the player steps on the sand near him in that level, Antlions will come out and will attack them and kill Sandy as well. If the player successfully prevents Sandy from being killed by the Antlions and ventures on to the Vortigaunt Camp, a faint gunshot can be heard several minutes later, assuming that Sandy committed suicide.
