Talk:Half-Life
From Combine OverWiki, the Half-Life Wiki
I recommend removing the Cherenkov Radiation comment from the reference to the title of Blue-Shift. I've never heard Cherenkov Radiation referred to as blue shift (no wavelength shifting is involved with C radiation as far as I know). Blueshifting is directly related to the doppler effect (compare with redshifting). As an aside, were one to travel close to the speed of light, all incoming electromagnetic radiation (visible light, radio waves, microwaves, etc) would be blueshifted and be perceived by the traveller as gamma rays. 71.221.230.184 04:50, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Locker Picture?
I've read on this site about a picture in Gordon's locker (At the original Black Mesa), with one that looks like Alyx. My original Half Life disc is shattered, so I can't go back and check. (I'm still looking for a new copy.) Does anyone have a picture of the picture in his locker?
I don't have a picture handy, but I have seen it. I don't remember where I read the explanation, but I'm pretty sure it's just a picture of one of the developer's kids, an easter egg. Any resemblance to Alyx is probably purely coincidental. --MattyDienhoff 03:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you!
You're welcome. ^_^

[edit] Half-life year?
Near the end of the office complex, before you go up the stair case, you can find a calendar in one the the offices. It shows December 1st falling on a Monday, meaning that It would have taken place in the year 2008 or 2003. I could well be wrong, but given that, the events of half-life would have begun in 2008, or 03. I can provide a screenshot after the bump. Phunkphish 00:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- That's interesting, given the fact that story is commonly given to take place around the year 2000. So I'd say 2003. Klow 16:34, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually I see only six numbers, not seven. I suppose this piece of calendar was there just to confuse us. Klow 16:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Who Is LM?
I looked in my Half-Life booklet for the PS2 and read Gordon's letter of acceptance to Black Mesa, and at the end of it it has the initials LM. I don't know of any characters with the initials LM. So, who is LM? Here is a picture of the letter. Erickos 23:48, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
No idea, but it could be the adminastrator who is Wallace Breen, it could be his nickname or his nicknames initials. --Donovan-j-charlie 23:32, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, What about Laboratory Management/Manager? (Strat-N8 20:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC))
[edit] Change Game Function
I used the "Change Game" function in the beginning menu screen of Half-Life to play a Mod for it. When the other game loaded, it closed in 10 seconds. Happens when I change to any game. I tried it the other way around, and it even happened there. (changeing from Opp. force to Half-Life). Anyone know why it's doing this? Valshad 20:40, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ask on the Steam forums, you'll be more successful. ;-) Klow 21:32, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
