Uriah is a Vortigaunt scientist who is Arne Magnusson's assistant in the Resistance base known as White Forest. Whilst Vortigaunts do not give themselves names, Magnusson gave Uriah his moniker to differentiate him from the rest of the Vortigaunts at White Forest. He has a deep, almost Jamaican accent, and wears a lab coat. Uriah aided Gordon Freeman briefly during the Combine raid on White Forest.

- Valve named Uriah after the obsequious character from Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, in reference to the Vortiguants' deference towards Arne Magnusson. The developers have stated that Dickens' unused middle name for Uriah Heep will feature in some way in Episode 3.
- Uriah was internally known at Valve as labbie.
